You can find this post here on my new site for the full post and to leave comments.
I've created a few new themes for my blog. I was hoping to be able to put together a CSS Switching option where you could choose your own but it does not sound easy in blogger with the widgets etc. so at least for the time being it'll have to be only one at a time.
Here are the options:
Clematis.
Clematis 'Rebecca' is one of my favourite new plants (and one of the most common Keywords that people find this blog from Google).
Heuchera.
Heuchera 'Obsidian' & Calamint. The pairing was a happy accident, these two plants have worked together well since they found themselves as neighbours.
Hosta.
Hosta 'Striptease' was one of the first Hostas that caught my eye. Nice green colours with this theme.
Opuntia.
Opuntia macrorhiza is easily one of the most unusual and interesting plants in my garden.
Phalaenopsis.
Phalaenopsis. Classic, elegant, long lasting. My favourite NOID.
Osteospermum.
Osteospermum cv. is one of my favourite annuals. I had one last year and will almost certainly be getting the same one this year as well.
There will be a poll in the sidebar open for a week though odds are I'll have already changed the theme by then.
Comments encouraged. If I were to change the theme from time to time to cycle through these how often could it change without bothering you? Or do you prefer fewer changes with the theme?
And don't forget to visit my 100th Post to tell me if I should buy a Cactus or an Orchid.
I like Clematis, Opuntia and Osteospermum. I do like that the current one has random grey boxes and title area though.
ReplyDeleteI like any of the ones with non-green backgrounds, but voted for Opuntia.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with green, of course, and it's what I have myself, but it's awfully done already. More distinctive to use some other color, any other color.
Toss up for me,
ReplyDelete1) Clematis 'Rebecca'
2) Osteospermum cv.
3) Opuntia macrorhiza
In that order
I like the Heuchera, maybe with a darker background (a colour other than green?).
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a mishmash of plant pics in the header (as current), but I guess if the theme changes regularly, that sense of variety could be retained.
I like the clematis one the most - I like juxtaposition of the plastic-like white grid and the rich colors. I switched from my phone to my laptop just so I could see it better!
ReplyDeleteI do like certain thing about the current one but the spacing around the text is really bugging me, which is what brought this whole thing on.
ReplyDeleteI did try working with one that had a number of different pictures in it but couldn't get it to work as well, though I may give that a shot again. The whole idea about this blog is that there is a range of plants. And this blog is about all of them. So that's something I'd like to keep the idea of here. Changing the theme though is as easy as uploading a different picture and changing four colours so really not a big deal in the slightest.
I agree about green, I guess. I suppose the Hosta one is out right there! I'll try to pull a few different colour from the bricks in "Clematis" and from... Maybe the Heuchera in "Heuchera."
On top of Heuchera and Clematis I also like Osteospermum & Opuntia. Hosta and Phalaenopsis are basically out of the running.
I'll put up the new versions of Clematis and Heuchera. I found colours that work while I was writing this comment.
